
A former corrections officer at Limestone Correctional Facility has been indicted on federal bribery charges, according to recently filed court documents.
Alex Christian Andrews, also known as “Christian Steele,” is accused of conspiring with others to smuggle contraband into the prison in exchange for money.
Prosecutors say that between July and November 2022, Andrews conspired with another officer, an inmate, and an outside associate.
According to the documents, he allegedly used Cash App transactions to facilitate the operation, changing his username to “bigsteele05” to mask his identity.
The other officer involved is accused of also using an alias, and documents say that officer accepted payments from Andrews to smuggle contraband and ignore prohibited items.
Back in 2022, Andrews was originally charged with seven counts of use of official position or office for personal gain and seven counts of bribery of public servants.
The court documents filed Wednesday reveal he is now charged with conspiracy to commit federal program bribery and federal program bribery.
