
Hickory, N.C. — The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Lacrosse team took down No. 25 Limestone 16-12 on Wednesday, putting to bed the Saints’ hopes of an undefeated conference campaign.
This marks the Bears’ first ever win over the Saints.Ellie Campbell and Abbey Walker combined to score half of Lenoir-Rhyne’s goals.

STATS OF THE GAME
- The Bears up early, as Cassell Richardson, Kirra Olson, and Abbey Walker quickly put the home side up 3-0 with three early goals.
- Ellie Campbell and Walker scored two more midway through the first to put the Bears up 5-0 after one.
- Limestone opened the second quarter with a goal, but Anneleise Meyer answered with a free position goal just a minute later.
- Two late goals from LR gave the Bears an 8-4 lead at the break.
- Campbell sparked a 4-0 run in the third quarter that saw Lenoir-Rhyne extend their lead to 12-5.
- Hannah Thomas scored a goal with 35 seconds left in the frame to make it 13-7 Bears heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
- The Saints outscored the Bears 5-3 in the frame, but late goals from Richardson and Campbell sealed the LR victory.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- This was the Bears first ever victory over Limestone as they now sit at 1-11 all-time in the series.
- This marked the first ranked victory for the Bears since beating #17 Queens on March 21, 2018.
- Lenoir-Rhyne is now 4-1 in the SAC, their best start to conference play since 2019 when they went 7-1.
- Christensen started her 50th career game today for LR.
- Sally Friesen made 13 big saves in the net for the Bears.
NEXT UP: Lenoir-Rhyne will travel to Emory & Henry on Saturday for a 3:00 game. The Wasps will come into the game with a 3-6 record overall and will be looking for their first SAC win.
