TANNER, Ala. (WAFF) – A cotton gin in Limestone County turned into a classroom for the day.
Fifth graders from Athens and Limestone County schools got the chance to tour a cotton gin in Tanner.
It’s a way the students can learn about one of the county’s largest commodities, everything from the ginning process and all that cotton is used for.
“It’s just important for kids to know where things come from that they use everyday and this is a way for them to be educated and be out seeing it,” said Chloe Wilson, a Limestone County extension agent.
High school ag students help teach the younger students about the ginning process as well as other aspects of cotton farming in Limestone County.
